Better Than Toast is an emerging Punk Rock band making a noise on MySpace. Their music is not breaking any concept or paradigm, but it´s very well done, specially for an indie band.
Recently, Dan Riolo -BTT´s lead singer- answered our 25 questions. These are his responses:

What´s your...

1. Favorite artist/band of all time?

Dan Riolo: Green Day. My sister gave me their album "Warning" to listen to when it came out and I fell in love with their music write away. It inspired me to start my own band and that´s how Better Than Toast was started.

2. Favorite album of all time?

Dan Riolo: "Dookie" by Green Day. It´s the only CD I can listen to over and over. No matter how many times I hear it I can´t get sick of it.

3. Favorite song of all time?

Dan Riolo: "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. I think it´s so original and well thought out.

4. Favorite producer of all time?

Dan Riolo: Probably either Bob Rock or John Feldmann.

5. Favorite singer of all time?

Dan Riolo: Hands down Freddy Mercury of Queen. His vocal range is amazing and he never misses. Steve Perry of Journey is a close second.

If you had to choose...

1. One artist to do a duett with?

Dan Riolo: Probably Green Day just to meet them and be a part of something with them.

2. One artist to write and/or produce a song for?

Dan Riolo: Snoop Dogg haha.

3. The studio or playing live

Dan Riolo: Both are fun. The studio is fun because it´s where we write all of our material and get to hear it coming together. It´s very exciting getting your CD once it´s all done. But playing live is also fun. You get to interact with the crowd and see what they think about your music.

4. To write a jingle for Coca Cola for 100.000$ or to do a charity
gig for free…

Dan Riolo: That´s tough. The money for the Coke jingle would be pretty nice seeing as how I´m flat broke haha, but it would be nice to make a difference in the world by doing something that I love.

Just pick one…

1. The 60´s or the 80´s

Dan Riolo: I can´t pick between the 60´s and the 80´s!!! I grew up listening to the best of both. Listening to my Dad´s CCR records while my sisters where in the next room blasting Flock Of Seagulls or Billy Idol. I love both eras.

2. Number one on Billboard or a grammy

Dan Riolo: Definatley Billboard. I´m not a big fan of award shows (that´s not saying I wouldn´t want a Grammy of my own someday though haha.

3. Vinyl or CD

Dan Riolo: Vinyl. I think it sounds much better than a CD. And that was before people could just download any song and burn it for free. It showed the bands how many fans and supporters they truely had because if you wanted the album, you had to go and buy it.

4. Internet or Papermagazines

Dan Riolo: It´s hard to say because I haven´t really gotten into the internet magazine thing yet. I´m still stuck on paper copies of Rolling Stone or Guitar World. I´m sure they´re just as promising as paper magazines though.

5. Europe or USA

Dan Riolo: I have to say U.S.A. When an American band makes it in the UK they´ve REALLY made it. But it the U.S.A. if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

What do you think of...

1. Commercial radio-channells…

Dan Riolo: I love them. It´s the main way of exposure for musicians. It´s how it all started.

2. Major Record-labels…

Dan Riolo: All I´ve ever wanted was a deal with a Major Record label. I know people are always talking about how record labels rip people off, and I´m sure it´s true, but all in all they´re great and I wish to be a part of one someday.

3. Stylists…

Dan Riolo: I guess they´re good. A lot of a bands following has to do with their image and they have a lot to do with that.

4. Promo-tours…

Dan Riolo: Awesome way to market your band. Also lots of fun if you´re playing bigger shows.

5. Being on tour for 5 months…

Dan Riolo: Being on tour for 5 months is probably hell, but a happy hell. I´m sure it´s one of the hardest things in the world to do but if music is what you love you´ll be happy doing it. How else would a musician spend his/her time? It´s better than having a crappy full time job that you will most likely hate more than anything.

Please tell us a little about...

1. How you got signed…

Dan Riolo: Unfortunatley we aren´t signed yet. We´re working on it but it is one of the hardest things to do.

2. How you like playing live…

Dan Riolo: I love playing live. Especially when it´s a big crowd and the kids are really into your music. To me there is no better feeling.

3. How your latest album have been recieved…

Dan Riolo: Our latest album "Get Down" is doing great. We´ve only been selling for a short while and sold a very good amount of copies through the internet. We´ve been getting an insane amount of positive feedback on it and we couldn´t be happier with it.

4. your nearest plans…

Dan Riolo: Our nearest plans will probably be to sell as many CD´s as we can, play as many shows as we can, and get as much exposure as we possibly can. All working toward our goal of a record deal.

5. your musical dreams…

Dan Riolo: If we become the biggest band ever....great! But if we just make enough money so that we can live off our music instead of getting a job we´ll hate, that´s all I want. I just want to live off doing what I love to do.

and finally

1. please mention 5 cd´s that are spinning in the Cd-player for the
moment

Dan Riolo:

1. "Commit This To Memory" - Motion City Soundtrack
2. "The Fall of Ideals" - All That Remains
3. "Boys Like Girls" - Boys Like Girls
4. "Still Searching" - Senses Fail
5. "Systematic Chaos" - Dream Theater
