The music of the Nashville-based foursome, Be Your Own Pet, is an aural concoction of artful punk rock and teenage enthusiasm. Backed by Jonas Stein?s thrashing guitars and the monstrous rhythm section of Nathan Vasquez (bass) and Jamin Orrall (drums), bleach-blonde singer Jemina Pearl?s voice runs the gamut from jagged wailing to an all-encompassing sweetness garnering the teen more than one comparison to a young Debbie Harry. BYOP are releasing the warm up EP, Summer Sensation, on April 18th to get us amped for their upcoming full-length album out June 6 on Thurston Moore?s Ecstatic Peace label.
