Formed in Surrey (England), Threshold released their debut album Wounded Land in 1993. Hailed by the music press as one of the most exciting new bands in progressive metal, Threshold promoted the album in Europe with a successful double-headline tour with Conception. With Glynn morgan replacing the original singer Damian Wilson, the band released Psychedelicatessen in 1994 and toured Europe again, this time with Psychotic Waltz and then Dream Theater. The album received rave reviews including Album Of The Month status in Hollands prestigious Aardschok magazine. In 1997 Damian Wilson returned as vocalist for Extinct Instinct and a tour supported by Enchant before a more permanent replacement was found in Mac (ex-Sargant Fury) for the bands fourth album Clone (1998). After a succession of drummers Johanne James officially joined in 1999, a year which included a tour supported by Pain Of Salvation and Eldritch, and an appearance at the Wacken festival in Germany where Mac was voted the best frontman of the event.
A new millennium brought two albums in close succession and chart success for Threshold as they released Hypothetical (2001) and Critical Mass (2002). Concert highlights during this period included a European tour supported by Ark, a headline billing at the ProgPower Europe festival and the bands debut American performance at ProgPower USA. In 2004 the band released a live double CD and DVD Critical Energy with new bassist Steve Anderson among their ranks. Thresholds subsequent studio album Subsurface has achieved Album Of The Month status in seven major European magazines, and takes the passionate and powerful sound of one of Englands most exciting and original rock bands to yet another level.
