Longevity in the music business is hard to come by, but New York?s Liquid Carousel has been delivering hook-laden rock & roll for nearly twelve years. With the release of their CD, ?in a moment of clarity, the band creates pure rock-pop gems full of roaring guitars, lush harmonies, and commanding lead vocals.


Vocalist Sean Ryan, guitarist David Whitehead, bassist Will Vallar, and drummer Fran Pizzani walk the line between control and chaos with their intricate arrangements and reckless energy. But the focal point of the band?s newest record is the songwriting and the uplifting message of songs like ?Concept of the Year?, ?Everything You Need?, and ?The Meaning Of?.


?I try to communicate what I?m feeling about what?s going on in my life and in the world,? Ryan says of his lyrics. ?Right now, most of our songs have to do with the state of things in society and the things that I feel we are missing. I?m not talking about flower power, but the ideals of peace, love and general goodness to one another are things I?m passionate about.? But Ryan is also quick to point out that the band is not political. ?We?re not a soapbox band. And we?re not emo,? he says. ?We?re not standing on a soapbox. We?re just a rock band with ideas, ideas we want to share.


It?s their dedication to the craft of songwriting that has kept the band progressing and prolific. ?We?ve already finished at least six songs for the next record with more waiting to be completed,? says Whitehead. The New York Times described the band?s progression, writing, ?Liquid Carousel?s newer songs contain more involved musical arrangements than their [previous] efforts? and are suggestive of top notch alternative rock bands like Pearl Jam.?


The band has toured in support of their previous releases and plays regularly along the East Coast, including dozens of rooms in New York City, from the legendary CBGB to B.B. King Blues Club. Liquid Carousel also participate in an annual benefit for NYC Meals on Wheel each year, which raises about $50,000 for charity annually. Look for Liquid Carousel this fall on a stage near you.
