One of swedens finest vocalist have recently released his first soloalbum on MTM. His name is Matti Alfonzetti and if you miss the days and highlights of Whitesnake Free and Bad Company you sure have another fave in this guy. We sent Juha Harjula to ask him some questions about the past, the future and whats happening right now... The word is yours guys...
Hi Matti, your here with a brand new album called "Ready", can you tell us about it?
Matti Alfonzetti: It?s my first solo album,so naturally i?m excited to get it out there..

You have released it on MTM Music, how did you get in contact with them?
Matti: Mtm contacted me and asked if i wanted to do a melodic rock album. After making sure that i had full control over the production i accepted.I also knew who i wanted to play on the album, and i had to make sure that there was enough money in the project for that.

Let?s talk about some of the songs from "Ready", could you tell us little about
Matti:
-Blowing Up Detroit
Blowing up D is an old song written by John Palumbo.MTM gave me the song to listen to,and when i heard it i decided it was too good not to be recorded!
-Better Than Goodbye
Also a cover of a song written by Brett walker.I just thought it would fit in nicely on the album.
-Angel
I wrote angel with my friend Willie when i was staying in London.
-Am I Fooling Myself
yet another song that was suggested from the record company and i like the song.
-Don?t Let Our Love Go Down
Written by Jamie Borger who also plays drums on the album.Just goes to show that drummers are?nt that stupid, after all!!

What made you choose the Jagged Edge song "Out In The Cold" to this album???
Matti: I always thought that it would fit better with a more pop rock approach to the song.I was right!!??

You have also done a cover of Michael Morales song "Let Me In", how come????
Matti: MTM wanted me to do this one.Unfortunately it didn?t come out the way i had hoped.

You have written some of the songs with the guitarist Stefan Bergstrom, who is this guy??
Matti:Stefan was one of the guitarists in Skintrade and the guy i write most my stuff with.We just get along really well musically and socially.

The Bam Bam Boys album was released earlier this year. Can you tell us little about that period??
Matti: It?s a very long story.... i think i ?ll just leave it at that....

You did a album with Skintrade, that was more heavy, darker and more 90?s influenced than we were used to hear from you. How did that album do and what happened after the album was released????
Matti: We actually released two albums and especially the first one did really well mainly in Holland ,Germany andand Denmark. We toured a lot on that first album and after recording nr2 we just could?nt stand the sight of each other,so we split up!

You released one mini and one full-lenght album with Jagged Edge. What happened after that??
Matti: I joined Skintrade when i got back from England

What is your best memory so far from your music career??
Matti: Definitely when we played Festivals (Skintrade) in Holland and Germany. We played for over 7000 people!

Do you have any other projects going on right now???
Matti: Yes,i?m currently working on several projects.I?ll keep them a secret a little while longer..

Name your 3 favourite albums???
Matti: Deep Purple-Come taste the band Thin Lizzy-Live and dangerous Any album with Free

What are your influences????
Matti: Paul Rodgers,Paul Rodgers and Paul Rodgers!!!

What?s gonna happened in the near future??
Matti: I?m hoping to get out and play a few live dates in Sweden and then, who knows?

Thanks Matti for taking time for this interview and is there something you would like to say the readers of melodic.net????
Matti: I hope they enjoy my album ans maybe we?ll see them on the road!
