Ben Arthur

Edible Darling is a very nice and funny album done by Ben Arthur who is to me a rather new artist in an interesting singer songwriter Rock genre. Heres some questions i asked him to keep you updated on an album anyone whos into good light PopRock might be interested ...
Your Edible Darling album has a pretty funny frontcover, where did you got that idea from ?
Ben: > My friend Margot Quan Knight made that image and I thought it was so wonderfully disturbing and creepy that I asked her if I could use it for my cover. She very kindly agreed.

I believe you come from Charlotsville, wheres that on the U.S. map and who else comes from your hometown we might know ?
Ben: C-ville is in Virginia, about midway along the east coast of the States. Dave Matthews Band and Thomas Jefferson both called it home at various points.

You write pretty intense lyrics, which one was your favorite to write?
Ben: Thanks.

Hmm...I always like the one about the angel of death in the title track of the new album.

I put your work in the same vein as Brian Vander Ark, Josh Kelly, David Mead, Michael Penn, John Mayer, but you have maybe a bit more humor in your lyrics ... do you agree with this ?
Ben: Well, Ive always been a fan of albums that can go back and forth between serious and funny, light and dark. I love, for example, the way Abbey Road jumps between Shes So Heavy and Maxwells Silver Hammer.

How did you came in touch with Mike Shipley and Billy Branigan ?
Ben: Both of those guys were brought onboard by Jack. I was lucky to have a chance to work with them.

How do you know Jack Ponti ?
Ben: Id known Jack for a while and for a while he acted as a sort of unofficial manager for me, giving me advice and guidance. When it came time to sign with a label, he made me an offer and I gratefully accepted.

Do you already have ideas to a follow up for Edible Darling ?
Ben: Almost all of my next album is written and some of it is already recorded. Just waiting for the go-ahead from Jack. I imagine--since the new ones only been out for a month or so, itll be a bit.

I like to know with what other songwriters you work with ?
Ben: Peter Cole, Parker Paul, Byron Isaacs, Bruce Brody, Michael Crehore

Noticed your an AC/DC fan, i discovered them actually on a later stage in life and i believe that AC/DC is the best blues band ever, Malcolm Young is fantastic musician .... do you agree with this ?
Ben: Totally. Amazing band, and very underrated as a kicking blues crew, but if you listen to, for example, Rock and Roll Aint Noise Pollution, its just straight-up 12-bar.
