Jimmy Newquist Checks In With Carolineⴳ Spine Update

an update from jimmy Newquist from Caroline´s Spine about the new record....

Hey there.....it´s jimmy......I´m hoping this email finds you well
and enjoying the end of summer......my summer has been very, very
busy....that said, next week we´re going to start bombarding you with
info about the new *CAROLINE´S SPINE* record entitled, WORK IT
OUT......we will have advance copies at the full band WI shows in
Janesville (the BackBar - SAT* 8/30) and the TASTE of MADISON
(Downtown - SUN* 8/31)....should be a blast!.....this email is a
little different.....I wanted to share an interesting experience I had
yesterday....it´s a little Norman Rockwell, so I´ll try to be quick.

Years ago, I wrote a song called ´Please Let Me Go"....the song is
about knowing a relationship is going to end - and hoping that you
don´t have to be the person to end it....or to "cut ´em" as it
were..........how many times have you wished a person in your life
would just stop whining, realize they´re hurting people, and walk away
from the relationship with dignity? ....it rarely happens and almost
always becomes messy.............

I recorded the first demo of "Please Let Me Go" in Phoenix - while
getting ready to head out on a night with my buddies from school.....I
grabbed the cassette and jumped in their car.........typically,
conversations, jokes, brags, beers, and rough-housing would
ensue........many times, we would go way, way into the desert.....out
to the power lines.... for a "boondocker"......a bonfire encircled by
vehicles......kegs......and a desert moon......awesome!.......

At some point in the evening, I would say something like, "hey, you
guys want to check out this new tune I wrote?" ...and we
would sit around the car - doors open - listening to a very poorly
recorded demo...."Please Let Me Go" was one of the first songs where I
noticed my buddies really listening - not just being supportive
friends - really listening. I remember comments like "..it sounds a
lil´ country" or "who´s that about?" and "nice one, Newq."

Fast forward to yesterday....I´m with some of those exact same
buddies at a newer bar....talking about work, family, friends, and
just how big our little town of Phoenix has become.....we call it a
night and head out to the parking lot and one of them says, "how´s
that new record - finish it yet?" I pulled out my new CSPINE record -
and played a new song called "TAKE MY HEART"......we crank it up and
it is sounding awesome!.......then, it hits me.......

My friends and I .....once again....are way, way out in the
desert...except, the area is now all developed with shops &
houses........blaring one of my new tunes - not a "bedroom" demo, but
a sonic powerhouse recorded, managed, & mixed by industry "A" list
people.....standing around a car......doors open.....under the
powerlines (that used to be so far out of town)......with that same
desert moon.....and they´re really listening......

After this blistering rock song ends.....the radio is shut off and I
hear comments like, "man, this record is really heavy" and "who´s that
about?" and "nice one, Newq!" On my way home, I continued to listen
to the rest of the mixes....approving them one by one....so my manager
could send the record on to manufacture......and I was reminded, once
again, how fortunate I am to have this music in my life.....and how
excited I am...for you to hear it...

cheers,

jimmy

The question is? How the hell can he claim to use the Spine name, when he's the only one left. I was looking forward to the record... but it isn't spine, and it's insulting that he seems to think no one gives a shit, and will accept that shitty band that is the "new spine" It is not anything close to The real Spine. I was a huge fan of Jimmy Newquist!

'a sonic powerhouse recorded, managed, & mixed by industry A list people' CS sounds amazing itself. By Jimmy's words I bet it's gonna be their best record to date and one of the albums of the year!

Did you know that?

Krokus singer Marc Storace´s favorite albums are : Led Zeppelin´s first album, Deep Purple in Rock, The Beatles White Album,
Aerosmith`s Pump and AC/DC`s Highway to Hell .
