“Sweet-voiced Tennessee songstress” (Time Out NY) Garrison Starr released her seventh studio album, Amateur and the singer-songwriter-troubadour continues her road warrior ways with more tour dates through the Fall.
Lee Zimmerman declared in his Blurt review of the album, “Amateur? Hardly. Clearly, this Starr is still on the rise.” Gregory Robson of Absolute Punk agrees, "Starr is a rare treasure, whose voice has the ability to convey an array of emotions like so few of her contemporaries"
After a few solo dates, including 'SCHOOL NIGHT' at Bardot in LA on Monday and two with Jay Nash later in the month, Starr will be joining Adrianne Gonzalez & Maia Sharp for a month of collaborative shows. Like a writers-in-the-round they will take turns being front and center but because they are also all accomplished musicians they will serve as the band and background vocalists for each other with the additional accompaniment of acclaimed guitar player, Linda Taylor. Her first full-length since 2007’s The Girl That Killed September, Amateur is co-produced with musician Justin Glasco (Dan Wilson, Cary Brothers, Matt Nathanson) and features contributions from Glen Phillips, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kevin Devine, Gary Jules and many more.
