Samuel Proffitt releases new EP 'Good Death' on Nettwerk
Samuel Proffitt releases his new EP Good Deathvia Nettwerk. The cinematically explorative EP features the singles "You" with Crywolf, which EARMILK said "cuts down into your soul with its emotive ambience," and "Stringsnoise" with indie alternative artist Yoke Lore. It also includes a previously unreleased collaboration on the track "Lastdays" with multi-instrumentalist Josh Jacobsonand strings by GRAMMY-nominated composer Phillip Peterson. Good Death is a hauntingly beautiful collection that examines memory, death, trauma, and fragmentation of self, both through theoretical work Proffitt has explored while working on his PhD at Brown University, as well as through more visceral, direct forms of art. The songs were written over a period of four years, and each piece can be viewed as a vignette, a moment that he felt compelled to capture, distill, and crystalize. Once brought together, these five songs form a cohesive narrative, beginning and ending with piano recorded through his iPhone.
