Yep Roc Records just announced the launch of the Digital Singles Club, an online community for exclusive, unreleased music. Based on the singles clubs of the early 1980?s, where unheard songs were quickly pressed onto seven inch vinyl and distributed to music fans via mail-order, the Digital Singles Club has updated the process by using Yep Roc?s access to mass quantities of quality unheard music, to make new, hand-picked "singles" available via the internet. The minimalist, easy to navigate design of the Digital Singles Club website further ensures that the focus stays on the music.
Each week, the Yep Roc A&R department will choose one song to be posted on the Digital Singles Club webpage, located at www.digitalsinglesclub.com. On November 14th, 2006 the DSC site launched with five exclusive new tracks, including one from indie-rock stalwarts The Apples in stereo. Since then, tracks from both Matthew Reveles and Channel In Channel Out have been added. Every week there will be one new song added to the list, each available for just 99 cents per download.
