Is normally not a bigger fan when more modern alternative rock bands releases acoustic albums. Think it becomes too tame and flat compared to their normal sound with a fat production and edgy guitars.
But think that this re-recording of American Hi-Fi's debut is an exception where the songs get a new and fresh face. Think it depends on the band's playfulness and classic pop tone that works just fine in this type of stripped format.
Really love the regular version of the album that was released in 2001 and that for me is one of the most important in the genre. But American Hi-Fi Acoustic has enormous charm like in both "A Bigger Mood" and "Safer on the Outside" both of which had a slightly darker, more serious tone. Even their biggest hit "Flavor of the Week" feels really fun in this kind of semi-acoustic version.
Although this album does not come up in the same class as the original, it's very well made and nice, worth checking out clearly.
