Behind this new Frontiers projcet you will find that all 3 members has been in Danger Danger in the past. Yes, we´re talking about Bruno Ravel, Rob Marcello and Paul Laine´s new band The Defiants. What can go wrong with these 3 guys? Well, nothing because these guys know how to deliver hookladen melodic hardrock with AOR influences and with a first class singer in Paul Laine. Bruno Ravel has done a brilliant work on the production because this sounds outstanding and everyting is just top-notch. This sounds like it could have been the album the follow up to Danger Danger´s The Return Of The Great Glider Sleeves, the last were Paul Laine sang on mixed with the lastest DD album Revolve. Then put in some touches from the great Marcello album and the classic debut album from Paul Laine and you get the point how good this is. Love And Bullets is pure magic with brilliant melodies, hooklines and a classy catchy chorus. This is how you write a winner and a runner for the best song of the year award. When The Lights Go Down is not far behind and this is another gem with lovely riffs from Marcello and filled with a powerful chorus with strong background vocals. Waiting On A Heartbreak continues on the road of brilliance. This is AOR by numbers with all the right trademarks and the chours if freaking awesome. Runaway has great piano sound in the background and gives the song a superb melodic feel over it. The chorus is hooks you up right away and your will find yourself sing it along. Next song Lil´Miss Rock´n´Roll is the only real downside on the album, so you can press skip on this one. On The Last Kiss we´re back on track again. This is a riffantastic song with a brilliant chorus with big hooklines. The ballad Save Me Tonight is a nice song and a chance to recover from the outstanding first half. We All Fall Down is another great song with layers of melodies and the chorus is great. That´s When I´ll Stop Loving You is a brilliant ballad were Paul sings his heart out and I think Jon Bon Jovi should have been proud to have written this one. Underneath The Stars rounds off this album is a fine rockin´way with riff strong guitars and the chorus is brilliant and reminds of Waltham. This is an essential album and if your into these guys other albums then this is a must for you. It´s a mystery that Paul Laine is not a huge star. Just to listen to this guy when he sings on this album, it´s pure magic. What a voice. So don´t hesitate to get this album.
