Pop genius Andrew McMahon and his Something Corporate is one of the most reliable bands in today's pop scene. Their two previous albums, Everything In Transit (2005) and The Glass Passenger (2008), were both exceptional well written and this new album does not differ in quality at all. Stylistically, it's a slightly a different band as can hear a slightly bigger sounding band more made for the arenas, but only slightly. The foundation is still build on their characteristic pianopop with a lot of thoughtfulness and heart.
There are a couple songs that really surprise me on People And Things and it's "Release Me" and "Television". It really is super cool that Andrew goes back to the '80s with the classic keyboard sound close to Foreigners "Urgent" in "Release Me". 2011 coolest track for sure! "Television" also differs from the bands previous records as the moves closer to U2, but in a young and hungry format.
Overall, I think it is the band's best album together with the previous one, The Glass Passenger. This one is more uptempo and happy sounds compared to the 2008 record that was deeper and more serious since he was very sick at that time. Andrew McMahon for president!
"green day" is a slang term for spending a day smoking marajuana. Billie Joe Armstrong wrote a song called "Green Day" about his first experience with the drug, and it soon replaced "Sweet Children" as the band´s name.
