Review

You can go far with a good looking face and a great voice, all you need is the songs to take you there. San Fransisco based Claudine sits on 2/3 parts except the songs. She´s got a great rocknroll voice and is drop dead gorgeous but where are the choruses? The songs on her debut album most often start promising but when there aren´t any hooks, my interest start to fall halfway through the album. There are in fact a few nice songs like the Pat Benatar-like "You" and the rocker "Play me" that should´ve been the opening track instead of the weak "Vice", I also enjoy the semi instrumental "Clouds" that features a great vocal performance from Claudine. The dance rhythms of "Come on over" feels a bit different compared to the bluesy melodic rock on the rest of the album, I like it. So what´s the music like then? Well, imagine a mix between Beth Hart, Alannah Myles and Heart and we´re pretty close to Claudine. All she needs now are the songs.
