Yes has gone through many line up changes and Benoit David is not the first to replace Jon Anderson, they did it once before on the 30 year old "Drama" album when Trevor Horn stepped in to fill Jon´s shoes. This band is keen on saving their legacy rather than renewing their sound, just like other bandssuch asJourney, Foreigner and Slade that has replaced their frontmen with a copycat. Earlier when bands replaced their lead singer, it most often led to a change of sound with examples like Black Sabbath (Ozzy to Dio), Van Halen (Roth to Hagar), Genesis (Gabriel to Collins). The good thing with Benoit David in Yes, is that they are performing songs from Drama which Jon Anderson weren´t too happy about singing. We get to hear "Machine Messiah" and "Tempus fugit" on their new live album "In the present, Live in Lyon" that was recorded in 2009. This is their 9th live album and the set is built on the early era where most songs also are featured on their first live album Yessongs. It´s a good live album where the highlights are "Southside of the sky", "Yours is no disgrace" and "Machine Messiah". Even if Benoit David truly sound like Jon Anderson, Jon´s got a much richer and fuller voice when it all comes down.
