Review

San Diego based hardcore/metal act Secrets release their debut album "The Ascent" today, you can catch them on tour this spring with Conditions, Sleeping With Sirens and Abandon All Ships. This band focus on massive riffs and the classic mix of growls and clean vocals which is so typical for this genre, the production is crispy and heavy on "The Ascent" and I really like the pop punk-like choruses but some songs tend to soundalike. The first half of the album is also stronger with high energy songs such as "Genesis", "The oath", "Somewhere in hiding" and "The heartless part". But once again, I want to point out the real edgy production from Tom Denney (formerly of A Day To Remember), great work man!
