Safetysuit released a brilliant album back in 2008 called Life Left to Go. So the pressure has been on for the band to come up with something great and in early 2012 These Times was released. it was preceded by single Let Go which was an average track in my books, it sounds very much like something from an OneRepublic album. I guess it is no wonder as Ryan Tedder co-wrote it. He also co-produced the album. Then there were Get Around This (co-written with Espen Lind if you remember him) and These Times which were better songs.
Once you put on this album you are treated to the song Believe and that is a great way to start the album. One of the best songs on the album and one that makes me smile. Then we have the songs previously mentioned followed by Staring at It which also sounds like a OneRepublic song. The title song is an uplifting song with great lyrics, one of my favorites. It continues with solid rock song until the closing Life in the Pain which is acoustic based slow song, a nice way to conclude the album.
There is nothing revolutionary about this album and if you like their previous work you will soak this up as well. I think that they are lacking a little bit of edge to the sound as it is very polished. Not at all a bad record but it is not as good as the first one either. For fans of Onerepublic, Thirty Seconds to Mars and why not the Foo Fighters. Buy it or check it out on Spotify today!
