Review

Night was a short lived band between 1979-1982, made up of session musicians from United Kingdom, New Zealand and U.S.A. The band started when Chris Thompson invited Stevie Lange to sing on a Manfred Mann album, the wanted to continue collaborating on music and got signed to Richard Perry´s label Planet Records where only 2 albums was released. Night (1979) and Long Distance (1980), the band also featured famous drummer Rick Marotta, the Rolling Stones keyboards Nicky Hopkins (who tragically passed away at the age of 50 in 1994), guitarist Robbie McIntosh (Paul McCartney), bassist Billy Kristian (Jon Anderson, Billy Thorpe) and as special guest : Steve Porcaro on 3 tracks.

Night scored a Top 20 hit with "Hot summer nights" from this album, and another great album track is "If you remember me" where Chris Thompson shows what a brilliant singer he was and still is. Night´s both albums was released as 2 on 1 disc by Renaissance Records in 2005 but it wasn´t classy done so this re-issue by Gonzo Media Group is more than welcome since the sound quality is top notch. Stevie Lange´s voice reminds a bit of Ann Wilson of Heart and the music goes in the same vein as Jefferson Starship, Chicago and Pages.
