Did not know what to expect from Slash's new album “Apocalyptic Love”. Can’t say that I was that impressed by the debut from 2010 with strange and boring guest appearances. Even the tracks with Myles Kennedy weren’t that impressive, but it was they who held the record at a decent level.
This new album is far better and I am very pleased that he chose Myles singing on all tracks. We're talking about today's best singers and of course there cannot be a bad result as he also is involved in the songwriting.
However, I had expected better songs, as there are only few tracks that come up in any higher class. "Standing In The Sun", "You're A Lie" and especially "No More Heroes"is really good and the quality I expected over the entire record. Now it is unfortunately not the case and cannot give the album more than ok. It sounds good, and Myles’s singing is of course really well, but expected more since this had all the chances to be a classic record!
"Sunday Bloody Sunday" originally started with the phrase "Don´t talk to me about the rights of the IRA" but was ultimately changed to "I can´t believe the news today" because U2 was afraid that their peace calling would be misunderstood.
