Review

If you like: Ben Folds, Fun., Tally Hall

Description:
Washington, DC-based Jukebox The Ghost really surprised me with this new album "Safe Travels". Think that their previous album Let Live and Let Ghosts (2008) and Everything Under the Sun (2010) was good, but they are not nearly as well made and commercial sounding like this pop pearl.
Now, there are clearer similarities with acts like Fun. and Ben Folds with stylish piano pop in a playful format. So the band has gone from a more streamlined indie sound to be a band that belongs on the radio and on the charts. However, there are still clear traces of the previous albums here, which mean that they got a nice mix of alternative and commercial pop, all packed in a classic package.
A top record of 2012 for sure!

Did you know that?

The name Nickelback originates from the nickel in change that member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his Starbucks job. He would frequently say "Here“s your nickel back."
