I really loved the last album by Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons, 2009's "Death Won't Send a Letter", so I really had some expectations on this album.
Old Believers starts off with "This is How it Goes", which is a short little tune sung by Adriel Denae. It really shows off her beautiful voice. Second track is the first single, "I've Been Accused". This is a great song that really shows a soulful side of the band. Overall this is a folk rock album with lots of soul and country vibes, which I love. Fourth track, "Never Meant to Love You" is a very nice little tune as well, reminding me a bit of "Tenneseee" from the "DWSaL" album. Some other standout tracks are "Laura" and the gospel track "Over Jordan", the latter a really infections song that sticks to your brain like glue.
Just like on "DWSaL" we are treated to great harmonies from Chisel and Denae. Their voices together are a perfect match, just listen to the track "Seventeen" and you will see that Adriel Denae is much more than a backound singer. Production wise there is nothing to complain about, I like the sound and it fits the band well.
Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons, have done it again, "Old Believers" is a great album that you really do not want to miss!
