I remember reviewing Throw The Fight (TTF)’s last album. I thought it was good but not great. Here they are with their new album and the question of course is if it will be better than the previous one. Well, the first thing I notice is that the sound is cleaner and, well, bigger. The screaming is also a bit toned down. I must say that I like the new sound.
First out is Bloodshot Eyes, which starts with a keyboard intro but it grows into a heavy riff based song. It sets the tone for the album. It is fast paced and full with riffs that will make your head nod from time to time. After a couple of spins I do think that this album is better than the previous on every count. Fifth out, When the World Stops Spinning, is a song that sticks right away with a great chorus. Another fun thing to notice is a cover song, none other than I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight, by Cutting Crew. It might not be the best song on here but it is a good trip down memory lane. Run Away is another great song. There are no real bad songs on here so it should be a safe buy if you like Funeral for a Friend, Breaking Benjamin and Story of the Year and similar acts.
TTF have left some of their rough past behind and in the process they came out a better band. I really like some of the songs on here and the flaws I found before are almost gone now. It will be exciting to follow this band to see if they can keep improving by every release. If so, some years down the road we might get a great album. I do not think that they should throw the fight, they should keep swinging!
