South Carolina Crowfield has been a favorite band since their very nice debut "Goodbye, Goodnight, So Long Midwestern" produced by Rick Beato (Shinedown, Decyfer Down, Ingram Hill). They were also signed to Universal for a short period and record a self-titled album that they had to release on their own. Very unfortunate since it is a masterful album that had all the chances to go really well, but for some reason their label chose not to give it a try. Very stupid decision if you ask me as they were right in time with their modern folk pop / rock and is better than most on the market!
This did not break the band as they’re now back with their third album, and this through a Kickstarter campaign. And this time the guys have went back to their roots and recorded "The Diamond Sessions" with analog tapes and vintage microphones, in order to create such a classic and raw sound as possible.
And it works really, really well as the album feels very organic and warm. Even if the production is supposed to be "simple" it still feels rich with beautiful string arrangements and sounds expensive, in a good way. Tracks that stand out are "Measure Of A Life" and "Story Of A Scar" and "Too Early To Say", but there are no weak parts to be honest.
So if you like classic rock 70’s harmony rock with clear folk influences like The Eagles meets Cat Stevens then Crowfield and their "The Diamond Sessions" is a given album for sure.
