Review

David is a new name from Ireland who released a double CD filled with all 27 songs. David has done everything all by himself with a little help from Rob Mancini who co-produced the album. David offers a melodic pop / rock in the same style as Tony Carey but not quite in the same class, then, they are also a little symphonic influence. David sings perfectly OK but may need some power in it but otherwise fully approved. With this many songs there’s always a chance that the material is a bit uneven and so is the case here, some of the songs falls out of the frame, then there’s a few songs that are too long. But there are some really good songs as well like the opening track It Gathers that is melodic with nice hooks. Time Machine has some pop touch of Magnum written all over it. Dark of Night is a nice rocker with great harmonies. The One is a strong storyteller song with beautiful melodies in the best Tony Carey style with a strong chorus. Has To Be .... is a good song with strong melodies and hooks. He saves the best til´ the end with This Is Now, this is a really good pop song with infectious hooks and nice keyboards, a very good song. The production is OK even if the drums are programmed. If you put the best songs from both discs, it would be a good album. The are so many songs on this double CD that you will surely find other favorites than I mentioned. Fully approved album from David J. Caron.
