Los Angeles-based Beta Wolf delivered in 2010 one of the best Modern Rock records ever made in "Dark Days". With fantastic songs and a great vocalist in Grant Arnow did they find their own style with one foot in the Modern Rock music and one foot on classic rock. Is very, very surprised though that Island Records did not choose to release the album as they had all the attributes to reign on the rock stadiums in the US.
"Dark Days" did come out then, but only in Japan and with no promotion, you have no chance even if you have classic album in your hands.
However, it now feels a bit like the band got another chance as they now is opening for Daughtry on his summer / fall tour. Suitable to this, they have chosen to release this Ep "Just Before Morning," with three songs from "Dark Days" and two new tracks. Think it's great that they gives the tracks "Los Angeles", "Last Man Standing" and the title track, a new chance as they deserve to reach out more than just in Japan. The new tracks "Domino" and "Who's Holding On To You" is, of course, of highest class where I think the first is slightly stronger. A given here in my ears, and should give the band plenty of radio time on alternative rock stations.
So if you like big and muscular Modern Rock, Beta Wolf is a given band to check out!
