This album came as a surprise to me. Was in my local record store last week and the owner told me that I should check out Leif Sundin's debut. Leif is relatively unknown artist outside of Sweden, but is a national treasure that has sung with many major hardrock acts such as Michael Schenker Group, John Norum (Europe), and Brian Robertson (Thin Lizzy).
However, the debut is far from hardrock, BUT sounds like I hoped it would do for sure. We are talking traditional Americana rock inspired here, inspired by Tom Petty and Ryan Adams, where the acoustic guitar is the dominant instrument. Would, however say that he sounds more like Don Henley as the album offers a great deal of heart with very a beautiful and personal songwriting.
Songs like "Rainy Day Song," "Broken Old Record" and "Out Of My Head" are highlights for me and the album will come high on my list of 2012 best albums.
A must if you like singer / songwriter rock with an Americana touch!
Before drumming in Glasvegas, Caroline McKay had never played the instrument before – she had been working in a clothing store when James Allan met her.
