Place Vendome is back!

Don't know about you all but I was excited to hear when the guys were set to deliver to us another album. Has it really been 4 years since their last? Wow!

Close To The Sun begins right off the bat with the self titled track that draws in the listener with melodictastic guitar and strong vocals to match. Most of the record follows this songs theme but here and there you get a break in with welcoming AOR like vibrations.

As the album carries onward and you approach just past the mid way point we find 'Light Before The Dark' which honestly reminded me a little bit of 'Stagefright' by Def Leppard in the beginning with the guitars set up.

'Breathing' and 'Falling Star' both will appear much softer than most of the material feautered but I love the balance of the melodic guitars and breakdowns along side the vocalists warrior like range. 'Yesterday' and 'Helen' are okay but I felt they lacked that spark others had.

Must say Close To The Sun left me wanting more as I think this is Place Vendomes best album to date. It starts off strong then rides smoothly then finishes with my favorite track 'Distant Skies'. When I hear this song it makes me feel like I'm on a epic quest down the highway of life for peace. After all, isn't that what life is all about, the music and the living of things to the fullest? Would like to think so.

Be sure to check the band out on Facebook,Youtube & Spotify!

Did you know that?

Temple of the Dog was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990. It was conceived by vocalist Chris Cornell of Soundgarden as a tribute to his friend, the late Andrew Wood, lead singer of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. The line-up included Stone Gossard on rhythm guitar, Jeff Ament on bass guitar (both ex-members of Mother Love Bone), Mike McCready on lead guitar, Matt Cameron on drums, and Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) providing some lead and backing vocals.
