Review

Think that you can resemble Pop Evil as a modern version of Saliva. Stylistically there are clear similarities as they mix classic hard rock with modern rock and in a similar manner. Pop Evil is also like Saliva once was, very productive with a new album every two years.
Really liked their last album War Of Angels where the band in a very nice way mixed tougher rock with more sedate ballads. This new album Onyx follows the same track and is a stable and worthy sequel. Did not really think they would be able to reach the same level, but think that this album is just as good with good songs from beginning to end.
What I think is especially good with Pop Evil is that they are very good at writing different types of songs. "Behind Closed Doors", "Torn to Pieces" and "Deal with the Devil" has all different types of structure while they are impressed appealing.  This makes Onyx really diverse, but still homogenous with a red line through the whole record.
Overall a very skilled record that you should check out if you like modern hard rock likes Shinedown, Rev Theory, Buckcherry and Hinder.

Did you know that?

AC/DC — the name was discovered by Angus and Malcolm Young. It comes from the letters AC/DC (alternating current/direct current) on the back of their family vacuum cleaner.
