Review

The best song in the Swedish qualification of the Eurovision song contest 2017, is Dismissed´s Heart Align and it didn´t even get to the Swedish finale. Not only is there a tough climate for rockmusic in mainstream media, but I guess the audience wasn´t ready for Dismissed´s cocky image. However, with the splendid song Hearts Align, this band gained lots of new fans and one could believe that they would take the fast lane and record a bunch of commercial rock songs on their debut album Heads Held High. But they did not!
Don´t expect a band that are flirting with housewives or hope their songs will end up on a teen-pop compilation, Dismissed instead focus on songs with longevity where they stand with one foot in 70´s glam a la David Bowie and the other in the contemporary electro rock scene. The music on Heads Held High scream out neon signs and sci-fi rock that would be perfect as the soundtrack for the upcoming film Blade Runner 2049. I could go on and on about the adorable Hearts Align that is co-written by Ola Salo (The Ark) but I have more favorites on this 9 track album like the groovy Save The World and the grand opening song Leave It Under Water. Dismissed stand out in the current and predictable rock genre.

Tracklisting 1.Leave it under water
2.Escape
3.Hearts align
4.Stay
5.Dance on the borderline
6.Glitch
7.Save the world
8.Lucifer
9.Marching with heads held high

Did you know that?

After meeting Joey Ramone, Bruce Springsteen wrote the hit “Hungry Heart” for the Ramones but, at his manager´s advice, kept it for himself.
