"We´re all alright" is a typical Cheap Trick title for an album and it´s also the second one without original drummer Bun E Carlos, it makes you wonder if his side project Tinted Windows from 2009 had enough to do with his departure from the band. I mean, Rick Nielesen´s son Daxx has been the band´s drummer since 2010. Anyway, this time around Cheap Trick decided to go back to the more simple garage rock sound of the first album from 1977. "We´re all alright" has more in common with albums like Cheap Trick ´97 and "Special One" from 2003 than their previous albums "Rockford", "The latest" and "Bang Zoom Crazy....Hello".
I must admit that I do feel a bit disappointed but it´s not a bad record, Cheap Trick don´t know how to make bad records. There are some really good songs on "We´re all alright" such as the upbeat rocker "Long time coming", The Move cover "Blackberry way" and the beautiful "Floating down" that could´ve been featured on their "All Shook Up" album from 1980.
I also think there are some ok tunes on the new album like "Lolita", "Listen to me" and "You got it going on" but there are too many slammin´ tunes that might work live but not on a studio album.
