When the bands went into the recording studios in the 70´s, they wrote the songs they wanted to and never thought too much about a certain album structure. A rock album could contain anything from boogie songs to ballads, heavy rockers and radio friendly tracks. It was the charm in buying LP`s 40 years ago and I´m very pleased to hear that the Swedish band The Night Flight Orchestra continues to release music that sounds like it could´ve been released between 1976-1979.
I was a bit disappointed over their previous effort "Skyline Whispers" that had it´s moments but as a whole album, didn´t reach the top quality of the debut "Internal affairs". However, with the 3rd full length "Amber Galactic", the band is back on track with earcandy for fans of 70´s rock.
These 11 tracks feels like a wetdream for fans of Lone Star, Uriah Heep and Styx.
I mean, how often do you get to hear disco rock, pomp and AOR on the same album in 2017? This is simply awesome so I will just sit my ass right down and enjoy amazings songs like "Midnight flyer", "Jennie", "Sad state of affairs" and the 7 minute long "Saturn in velvet".
