How often do you get to sink your teeth into 2 new albums from the same brilliant songwriter/producer?, but this year it´s reality because Evan Frankfort do not only deliver the amazing "Awake Alert Alive Almost" from The Spiritual Machines but also another epic and cinematic rock adventure with Les Friction.
"Dark matter" is the perfect escapism and the opposite in film would be "Arrival" and "Passengers", the title track is so majestic that I must check if my feet is still on the ground and I´m not floating at zero gravity.
The singles "Firewall" and "Who will save you now" are included as well as a brilliant cover of Led Zep´s "Kashmir", the superb "Your voice" was meant for the second Spiritual Machines album but Evan thought it was a better fit for the new Les Friction album instead. Another fantastic song is "I remember" featuring Emily Valentine on lead vocals, it´s so good that it hurts.
I love "Dark matter" and to complain would be like swearing in church but Evan is bringing Les Friction closer to the sound of The Spiritual Machines with more ambient rock songs, I wish he could return to an upbeat but bombastic sound, just like the debut "Louder than words" from 2012.
I think it would be better if he could seperate both projects, however I´m quite pleased with "Dark matter". Well, I am more than pleased!
