Review

Fiction Syxx are a new melodic hard rock band fronted by Mark Allen Lanoue - Lead Vocals (Biloxi) and he teamed up with a great gang of musicians like Tony Franklin - Bass (Blue Murder), JK Northrup - Guitar (XYZ), Eric Ragno - Keyboards (Graham Bonnet Band) and Rory Faciane - Drums.
Their debut album "Tall Dark Secrets" hails from a genre we´re not that spoiled with releases nowadays, it was different back in the 70´s when we had leading pomp rock bands like Styx, Touch and Angel. An era that felt like a dream.
There was a small revival in the 90´s with Prophet, Message, Biloxi, Rox Diamond and Shotgun Symphony but pomp rock lovers aren´t exactly walking on clouds these days. So that´s why I am especially glad to present Fixtion Syxx that sounds like a hard rock version of Styx. The ballad "Where we belong" could in fact be an unreleased Dennis DeYoung song, yes it´s that good.
The upbeat "Play on words" reminds a bit of Mark Allen Lanoue´s former band Biloxi, it´s one of the highlights along with the single "Given sight" that bring thoughts to DiMino (Angel).
Great album!
