In 1912, RMS Titanic left Southampton for the first trip to New York but the ship never reached it´s final destination and ended in disaster. A century later, the British singer/songwriter Ben Brookes left Portsmouth and traveled to Minneapolis where he signed a record deal for his first ever full length album.
Brookes reached his destination but his journey has just started because his debut album "The motor car and the weather balloon" is one of the most honest albums of 2017. His record label Martin-Guild helped out by bringing in some of the finest musicians in the states featuring Michael Bland - Drums (Prince), Greg Inhofer - Keyboards (Bob Dylan, George Harrison), Joey Molland - Guitar (Badfinger) and Mark Healey - Bass/Production (Badfinger).
Brookes is not only a fantastic singer, he´s also brilliant songwriter where his compositions are both rootsy and timeless. Imagine Cock Robin hanging out with The Verve Pipe playing unreleased songs by Chris DeBurgh and you´ll get this album from Ben Brookes.
