Whatever you think you can expect on the debut LP from Thomas Abban, you won´t even come close to what it actually sounds like.
Listening to "A Sheik´s Legacy" is like being in a room with several secret doors where you don´t know what is waiting on the other side, you have to open the door to find out. Once you opened the first door and experienced the view, the next one will be of a completely different character.
You could say that Thomas Abban is a natural talent because he played, wrote and produced the entire album himself at the age of 21. He has his roots in Ghana and Wales but calls Minneapolis, USA his home at the moment.
But who knows where he will be in another ten years, Tibet perhaps? or why not Iceland? This guy has an international sound with a crossover of riffrock, African rhythms, jazz, blues and world music.
But is the album any good? You bet it is.
The music bring thoughts to a blend between Jack White (The White Stripes), Sixto Rodriguez and Page and Plant.
Highlights : Symmetry and black tar, Fear, Aladdin, Irene
