Review

Ah, these guys of northern Sweden! STATE COWS is one of too few bands (OK, they’re a duo) that wave the proud banners of pure westcoast rock/pop. And man, how they wave them! Here’s another gem, right when I thought they wouldn’t be able to outdo themselves.

“Cease to ever have been” is so much STEELY DAN! But with a richer sound and some vibes of JaR as well as a tiny spice of MAXUS. Do you need more?

This song opens up with a fat guitar and smooth keys. And the arrangement is top notch! DANIEL ANDERSSON (vocals, guitars) and STEFAN OLOFSSON (keyboards, bass) are good for the world. Yacht rock and westcoast pop/rock does not get better these days, and this would have been in pole position even in 1982.
