What do we have to say about this numetal band then?....hrm,I?m in conflict with myself because at the same time I think some songs are really monster great I also feel that many songs are so non melodic-I just wanna push the stop button on my stereo. Demon Hunter can be compared to bands like Spineshank and Mushroomhead that mixes big choruses with brutal screams, they both have a few really good tracks but mainly their albums are too brutal similar to Slipknot and Pantera?s music. "Summer of darkness" is Demon Hunter?s 2nd album and this time also been produced by a new favorite producer of mine, namely Aaron Sprinkle (Falling up,Kutless,Dead Poetic) and like before the sound is excellent-top notch and superb. The first single "Not ready to die" is outstanding the best track on the album,a real killer and than the band gives us 2 more melodic rockers in "My heartstrings come undone" and "I play dead",very good. The album also contains some ok stuff where they mix screamy vocals with melodic choruses in the songs "Less than nothing","Everything was white" and "Summer of darkness". But far from that, the major part is unfortunately too non melodic in the Slipknot vein with the remaining 7 tracks,as you see it?s quite difficult to recommend this album to fans that enjoy bands like Sevendust and Ill Nino but I do think that Slipknot lovers might like it. Great moments but not a great album.
