Review

The OC Supertones are a Christian Heavy Ska/Rock band featuring the members: Mojo (vocals, Moog synthesizer); Ethan Luck (guitar, background vocals); The Chief (trumpet, background vocals); Dani Spencer (trombone, background vocals); Chris Beaty (bass guitar); Johnny Zero (drums, percussion).
Imagine a mix of No Doubt,Madness,Sugar Ray and Bad Religion.......an odd mix don?t you agree but that?s just the way The O.C Supertones sounds like.
With one foot in Ska land and the other one in modern punkpop territory, this 6 piece band has their own unique sound I think.
Even if it?s not my cup of tea,the music really feels entertaining and they do deliver some radio friendly choruses here and there like on "Transmission","Where I find you" and "Wake me up on time".
Since the first album came out in 97,this band has put out 6 studio albums (this new one is their 6th one) and 1 Live album from 2002.
They flirt with the reggae genre on "Faith of a child" and "Dream of two cities",they aren?t bad at all and who could believe that coming from my mouth since I have never been a fan of that Jamaican style of music.
The first single is "We shall overcome" but I?m not so sure if that is the most certain choice of a hit contender, the Bad Religion sounding "I will follow" would be my pick of a good single.
Like I said, this is not the album I?m gonna shout out loud being a great record but they are far from boring.......very amusing and a truly fun band in every way.
