Review

It´s been 2 years since Alkaline Trio´s last studio album which didn´t impress me that much,an okay album that got lost in the punkpop jungle but they are rocking harder and with a slightly different sound on "Crimson".
Have you ever heard the expression GothPunk?!,well I read that in a big Swedish magazine in a review of this new album and why not......coz these guys do not rock in the ordinary punkpop way on this album.
The music is more melancholic and even more influenced by the English punkscene, imagine Autopilot off and The Cure riding the same bus with Mick Jones of The Clash as the chaffeur making a bunch of songs along the road....well here´s the result.
Alkaline Trio has matured quite a lot since the last album, the lyrics are darker and the songs screams out longevity - listen to "The poison" and close your eyes.....it?s like a time machine taking you back to London in 1977.
3rd track "Burn" must be one of their finest songs ever and as a matter of fact, the whole album is filled with thoughtful punkrock.
It´s almost like hearing John Rzeznik of Goo Goo Dolls heading out the highway of smashing punkmusic, not that these two lead vocalists of AT sounds like him coz they don´t but the beautiful arrangements has the same touch as Rzeznik´s genius mastermind.
Highly recommendable!
