I had nothing against Straylight Runs dreamlike pop on their debut from 2004 but the songs just werent there, now have this band, that features former Taking back sunday members Shaun Cooper & John Nolan written better songs on their new 6 track EP "Prepare to be wrong"?
Ohyes, this is a more solid effort where they still deliver dreamlike pop/rock in the same vein as Coldplay and Manic Street Preachers.
On Guestvocals we find Jeff DaRosa of the band The Exit so there are a lot of different voices with frontman John Nolan sharing the lead with keyboardist Michelle Nolan.
The EP opens with the ambient and spacey "I dont want this anymore" but from track 2 and forward, Straylight Run turns up the tempo and rock a little more.
"Hands in the sky" is without doubt the best track on the EP, close your eyes and you could believe it was Pink Floyds The Wall you are listening to.
They also do a cover of Bob Dylans "With God on our side", hardly recognizable as a Dylan song - vocalist John Nolan almost sounds like Bono singing this one.
Recommendable!
