For those who have followed the Mael brothers through the years, know how impossible it is to predict how the next album is going to sound like. This time I am really glad they sticked to their adorable sound of the previous album "Lil Beethoven" from 2002 coz I wanted so bad the new album to take off where the last album ended,"Hello young lovers" feels like the twin sister to "Lil Beethoven" with it?s orchestral and magnificent pop opera. This is artrock with a big A,Sparks should a coffee flavor named after themselves so you can order a Java Sparks when the others take cappucino or espresso. Their 20th album is just like the previous effort,up there with their best albums "Indiscreet","Kimono my house" and "Propaganda" - listening to this new album feels like going to the theatre and get both the music and the show at the same time. It?s genius how they managed to record almost a whole album without using drums and still get it very rhythmic and full of swing,it?s a joy to lay your ears on my personal fave "Baby, baby can I invade your country" (ok,all songs are my personal faves but this one is more than excellent) or the masterly "There?s no such things as aliens". Only Sparks can come up with a title like "As I Sit To Play The Organ At The Notre Dame Cathedral" - brilliant! Highly recommendable!
