I thought that Head Automatica was only going to be a one album project from Glass Jaw frontman Daryl Palumbo, however the successful first album "Decadence" from 2004 made things a lot easier for Daryl to decide making another album. If the first one had traces of electronica with the involvement from producer Dan The Automator Nakamura, then the new album is more of a band effort as a full time alternative new wave/rock affair. The line up of Head Automatica in 2006 are:Daryl Palumbo-Vocals/Guitar/Programming,Craig Bonich-Guitar,Jessie Nelson-Keyboards,Jarvis Morgan Holden-Bass and Larry Gorman-Drums. The ones who liked the hitsingle "Beating heart baby" from "Decadence" will find lots of future fave songs on "Popaganda",for instance the new single "Graduation day" sticks to the head like glue. Daryl sounds even more like Elvis Costello on this album and on the midtempo ballad "Scandalous",my thoughts go to Mike Patton (Faith no more). This is not a typical Howard Benson production,it?s quite easy to recognize his touch on the albums he?s involved in but not at all on "Popaganda". The catchy "Curious" must be released to radio coz that phrase "Curi-urious" is just as infectious as laughter at a full theatre on a classic Pink Panther movie starring Peter Sellers. Much better than the first album!
