Review

It was a long time ago since we heard anything from the hero John Oszajca.
To be honest, I didn?t expect anything new from him after the crazy cool ?From There To Here? released in 2000 that didn?t do that well of any reason.
But he?s back now with a new album and quite a new style, the wacko moments from the debut are gone and instead we can hear a more mature and straightforward version of the now Los Angeles based rocker.
Imagine a sound close to Bleu and Owsley with some powerpop vibes mixed up with some basic rock ala Peter Searcy and we have today?s version of John Oszajca - and I must say that I prefer this late one; ok the debut was more unique with all the banjos etc, but this new album feels more complete and has better songs.
Actually, the songs on ?First Sign Of Everything? are damn good and just grows the more you listen to them. They feel real and poetic in a true rocknroll way that few artists manages to create.
If this album will be a bigger success than the debut for this guy is hard to say, but he really deserves it that?s for sure.
