Review

We haven?t exactly written long articles and lots of reviews about this long lived British band in the past, in fact I can?t recall melodic.net writing anything at all about Jadis which is a mystery coz they have been around since the late 80?s and are a damn fine act.
They belong in the same school of British progrock as IQ, Marillion and Pendragon with the majestic guitarplaying of Camel.
Their fans aren?t exactly spoiled with new studio releases coz this band sure do take their time between each recording, Jadis usually take 3 years between the releases (except a couple of live albums and 2 ep?s) and so is the case with their new studio album "Photoplay".

This is their 6th full length and the follow up to "Fanatic" (2003), guitarist and vocalist Gary Chandler is a pro at well crafted progrock songs.
I don?t find myself bored a single moment through this 1 hour long album, "What goes around" is just as pompous as want a symphonic song to be and the modern prog of "Standing still" has traces of Saga,Genesis and Rupert Hine - marvelous!
My favorite is "Who I am" which gets better and better for each time I hear it, awesome chorus!
A perfect album for the restless listener who just can?t bare long songs coz this record contains 11 tracks where noone is longer than 6 minutes.

Did you know that?

Pearl Jam“s first name was "Mookie Blaylock" after the All-Star basketball player, but the name was changed to "Pearl Jam" due to trademark concerns. Vocalist Eddie Vedder claimed in an early interview that the name was a reference to his great-grandmother Pearl. In 2006 guitarist Mike McCready said that bass player Jeff Ament came up with "Pearl" and that "Jam" was added after seeing Neil Young live.
