Review

The post-rock band Veruca Salt are named after the spoiled brat character in the book/movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, anyone who hasn?t seen the new version with Johnny Depp should rent or buy it today coz it?s brilliant.
The band Veruca Salt was formed by Post and Nina Gordon who left the band in 1998 to pursue a solo career including 2 solo album releases with "Bleeding heart graffiti" out this year.
It?s been 5 years since the band released their latest full length album "Resolver", they put the EP "Lords of sounds and lesser things" last year but now their fans finally get a new studio album with 14 new tracks penned by the only remaining original member Louise Post (guitar, vocals) and her long time partner Fitzpatrick (guitar) who replaced Nina Gordon.
On drums we find Kelli Scott (Failure, Blinker the star) and on bass Nicole Fiorentino as the newly recruited members.
Rae DiLeo (Filter, Escape From Earth) has produced the new album and the sound is perfect for their hard hitting poprock, I find the length of 55 minutes a bit too long coz there are a couple of fillers on "IV" but the majority of the songs are good.
They also have a good variation of rockers, slow songs and upbeat radio oriented songs on their 4th album, stuff like "Sick as your secrets" and "Blissful queen" really heat things up for a while.
Their Courtney Love playing Bangles rock works just fine in 2006 as it did on their successful 97 album "Eight arms to hold you".

Did you know that?

The longest song to reach number one on the Billboard charts on LP was "I´d Do Anything For Love (But I Won´t Do That)" by Meatloaf.
