SHORTCUT
Geoff Pearlman is a songwriter, singer, guitarist, producer and engineer who has released one album as an artist titled "Anything at All" on his own label.
An album I enjoyed quite much when it was released a few years back. Now he is back with an E.P titled "Someplace Like Nowhere" which Geoff has self-produced. Musically we?re somewhere between classic powerpop and a singer songwriter tradition a?la Neil Young. Once again, Geoff is mixing with Tori Amos? bassist Jon Evans at his studio San Pablo Recorders in Oakland, CA, and the result of the production is of course professional.
Best songs are third out "Caroline" and the uptempo "The Man With The Unbreakable Heart". Two good songs that proves that this man sits on qualities. But why the hell just 2,5 stars you may wonder. That is because the other 3 songs are quite boring and are just there without that extra nerve that at least I need to remember them after a year... I hope he will come up with more songs in the same class as the two I just mentioned on the forthcoming full length. If he does we can look forward to a real good album.
