I guess that most of our readers are into guitar driven modern rock so therefor it?s always a pleasure to present yet another great melodic hardrock band with a modern touch to their riffs and radio ready choruses. I give you Veer! and it?s hardly a surprise that they?re from Vancouver, Canada either because almost every band from that area seems to eat the same breakfast so they can write these songs. Veer was formed in 2004 by guitarist Eric Schraeder (ex.Forty Foot Echo) and singer Crispin Earl, Crispin gained attention for his songwriting credits on Tommy Lee?s "Tommyland - The Ride" but before that he was in the band Everything After in 2003. Everything After tracked a demo with producer Gggarth Richardson, due to creative differences - Crispin left the band and the other members: (Tommy Mac, Dave Croisin and Chris Crippin) regrouped under the name Hedley together with singer Jacob Hoggard, 2nd season finalist of Canadian Idol.
Now, Crispin shows that he?s to be reckoned with just as much as Hedley, Tommy Lee, Closure or any other act in the same genre because Veer rock and they rock hard. He brought the song "Breathing in" with him from the Everything After sessions and recorded 9 new muscle rockers on their debut "Time to break the spell". Veer set the level directly from the start with the explosive opener "Don?t take it out on me" but the highlight is "Over me", hold your horses what a chorus that is! Now, let?s just hope he will re-record more songs from the days with Everything After - the world needs to hear it!
