Review

30 Seconds to mars lead singer Jared Leto is a very famous actor and has been seen in movies like ?Panic room?, ?American psycho? and ?Girl interrupted?. But if he?s a good actor I must say that he?s an excellent musician. He has written all the songs and music and has also taken care of the Synthesizer, Bass, Guitar, Programming, and Vocals on the album. What can I say? Amazing is the word??! But to sit in the king throne with full dignity you got to write great songs and also have something own in your sound in my opinion. Musically 30 seconds to Mars has something new to add to the world with their space influenced modern rock. Imagine Jay Gordon from Orgy working together Brett Scallions from Fuel and we?re getting close to what these guys are offering. The toughest thing though is to write good songs that people will like and that has something extra. On that point Mr. Leto has also succeeded very well! The opener and also the first single ?Capricorn? is a marvelous tune where their mix of styles just presses out energy and edge. The progressive ?Edge of the world? is another good example of pure monster songwriting and should convince you that this is a definitely buy! This self-titled album is in my opinion one of the most unique album when it comes to an own style this year. I listen to a lot of music and there?s far too many bands that sounds the same, but we on melodic.net tries to orientate in this jungle the best we can. 30 seconds to Mars is an album that I highly can recommend and that I think will be found on many top lists this year. Jared, please take a seat in the chair!

This is an amazing album. From start to finish youre almost drawn into this dream-like state, imagining space, planets, stars and all manner of other extra-terrestrial beings. And as the record progresses, you slowly come to realise that youre the only thing left out there.... alone and in space. But its ok, and youre comfortable with that. This is, without a doubt, my favourite album of all time. A highly impressive debut from a seemingly talentless musician. Its almost hard to believe that a Hollywood actor created this masterpiece.

Did you know that?

According to member Jared Leto, the name Thirty Seconds To Mars is a rough translation of a phrase from the manuscript Argus Apacase and was chosen by the band for being "imaginative and really represent[ing] the sound of our music in as unique a way as possible.
