Review

Here is another release from Suncity Records that sounds very much the same as another Suncity band called Blackboard Jungle. The difference is that Pretty Vacant has better songs but a weaker production. These guys also moved to Hollywood to try out their wings to make it big. P.V never released an official CD. It just became a cassette/LP 1988 called "And We Don´t Care" which is hard to find. The sound of P.V is more hookladen than Blackboard Jungle and reminds more of Poison meets Enuff Znuff and Tuff. Yes this is very 80s hardrock with touches of sleaze and rock ´n´ roll but it´s a shame that the sound of the album has a demoquality over it. The album contains 15 songs and the 4 last songs are demos with a weak sound. Yet again Gregg Fulkerson(Blue Tears) has re-mastered together with Chris Fatouros. This is again a release that misses the real winner songs and that´s the biggest problem with the album. The ballad "Slow Day" reminds very much of Poison and is not a bad song at all. "Turn Off The Sun" is so much Enuff Znuff, and it´s very nice. This is Ok songwise but the production take down the grade a bit and they could have left out the demosongs. Check out this if you´re into the mentioned bands and you might like this more than I am.

Did you know that?

Joey Ramone was a devoted online stock trader in the late ´90s & even wrote a song about CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo.
