SHORTCUT

Former frontman of Legends of Rodeo, John Ralston released his first soloalbum last year and it is a beautiful piece of plastic in a modern singer songwriter tradition combined with a more powerpop sort of edge. Ben Folds, Elliot Smith, XTC, Jayhawks, Joshua Radin and even Goo Goo Dolls are a few names that comes to mind while listening to the album. When the album is good like in "Time For Me To Ruin Everything" and "I Believe In Ghost" it´s bloody good, but on the other hand - there are a bunch of more lo-fi smelling stuff (like "Avalance") on the album that I don´t give that much for... So three stars is quite far to this album.
